HonoursHonours is a 'fourth-year' program which gives you the opportunity to draw together your previous studies and focus your knowledge, skills and intellect on an exciting piece of original research. Investing this additional year at university helps to develop the maturity and skills for transition to employment in a range of occupations and industries or a research higher degree. View a list of departments within the faculty that offer an honours program. Masters by researchA research masters degree usually takes two years of full-time study. Many research masters degrees can be taken part time. Learn more about the faculty's masters degrees. Doctoral programs (PhD and MD)The PhD program is usually based on a three-year research degree incorporating a thesis of 80,000 to 100,000 words. The MD program is taken on a two-year full-time or four to five-year part-time basis. The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences offers research opportunities across a broad range of areas from medical education and the history of medicine, through to biotechnology and genetics.
