Undergraduate Study: The Melbourne Model
As part of the university’s move to a new approach to higher education, known as the Melbourne Model, a new undergraduate degree, the Bachelor of Biomedicine has been introduced. The Bachelor of Biomedicine is the preferred pathway to graduate professional-entry study of medicine, physiotherapy, dental science and nursing. Undergraduate entry to professional courses in dental science will continue to be available in 2009.
Graduate Study
We offer a wide range of graduate coursework degrees across the health sciences, and research masters and doctoral programs in biomedicine and health science. We have a well-established program to assist higher degree students in applying for scholarships and finding suitable supervisors.

Professional Courses in the Health Sciences
Behavioural science and psychology
Graduate professional degrees in psychology are offered as well as a Master of Psychology.
Dental Science
New graduate professional degrees in dental science will become available in 2011.
There will be no intake into undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Science in 2010.
There will continue to be undergraduate intake into the Bachelor of Oral Health in 2010 and ongoing.
Medicine
Graduate entry to the current medical course is available in 2008 and 2009. From 2011 the current medical course will be replaced with a graduate professional degree. Further details forthcoming.
Nursing
The Master of Nursing Science, a program of intensive nursing training through integrated programs of relevant theoretical and clinical practice, prepares university graduates for registration to Division 1 with the Nurses Board of Victoria.
Physiotherapy
Graduate entry to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy is available in 2008 and 2009. The Bachelor of Physiotherapy will be replaced with a new graduate professional degree in 2011.
Social Work
The Master of Social Work is a rigorous preparation for social work practice and research which provides graduates with the opportunity of a higher level degree while achieving their professional social work qualification.
