The faculty's main campus is in the heart of an exciting biomedical research precinct and close to major city hospitals. Find out more about the faculty's undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Strong clinical focusClinical experience is emphasised and introduced early in the medical, dental science, physiotherapy and nursing courses. This experience prepares our students for practice by offering extensive supervised patient care. Students have access to a range of clinical sites, including leading hospitals, clinical schools and rural sites. The latest knowledgeThe breadth of the faculty's research informs our teaching programs and provides students with excellent academic teaching staff. Students in the faculty's medical course undertake a research year and gain an additional qualification, the Bachelor of Medical Science. Students can choose from an extensive range of medicine-related topics and can spend the year doing research on campus or in approved centres interstate or overseas. Active approach to learningThe faculty's students determine their own learning goals and are supported through:
Diversity of experienceOur students experience their training in diverse clinical settings and study with people from different cultures and countries. We give our students an understanding of the key health issues in their professions and develop their generic skills to give them greater choice in their working life. Evidence-based approachAn evidence-based approach to practice and decision-making is used in all courses. Our students are equipped with strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills to use in practice. A focus on communicationThe faculty recognises how important communication skills are for people working in the health science professions. Communication skills are developed early in our courses and students have access to simulated patients (trained actors) to (practise on) before moving to clinical encounters with real patients.
