The university's historic campus is located in the beautiful suburb of Parkville, a short tram ride to the city centre and in walking distance to Melbourne's cosmopolitan Lygon Street.

The faculty is centred in Australia's most highly concentrated precinct of medical research institutes, hospitals, university departments and private sector knowledge-based industries. This gives our students access to the latest knowledge and to a range of clinical and research experiences.

One of Australia's most sophisticated centres of medical research and biotechnological development is being developed next door to the university as part of the A$400 million biotechnology initiative, Bio21.

The faculty also has a rural campus and clinical schools based in the river-land setting of Shepparton. Here, students have the opportunity to experience country life while learning about health care in rural settings.

Australia's second-largest city and capital of the state of Victoria, Melbourne has a population of around three million people representing more than 200 nationalities.
